For those who love golf, the Torreon Golf Club will feature an exceptional 18-hole championship course designed by the world renowned architects von Hagge, Smelek and Baril, with a third nine holes under construction. The full service clubhouse will also feature a fitness center, pool and tennis facilities.

While this is the shortest of the par fives, it will require accuracy and good judgment to score well. The hole begins from an elevated tee that helps to make it reachable in two. However, to successfully accomplish this goal the ten sand bunkers that define each of the three target areas must be negotiated.

This green setting is one of the most visually stunning on the golf course. The natural “wash” meanders along the length of the hole where it flows into another in front of the green. The large putting surface is clearly defined by a stone wall that fortifies the front of the green and six sand bunkers that highlight the hillside behind the green.

This sharp, dogleg right must be played down the middle of the fairway unless one dares to succumb to the temptation of cutting the corner. To successfully accomplish this feat, the ball must carry 220 yards over a series of bunkers. Since the shot to this green is rather long, the front of the target has been left unobstructed. However, accuracy is still vital as the errant shot may come to rest in one of six bunkers that flank both sides of the green.

Don’t let the distance fool you into thinking this is a weak finishing hole. The hole features a stream that meanders along the left side of the fairway before crossing to the middle of the hole bisecting it into two fairways. Finally, the stream reaches the green where it turns right and fortifies the entire front edge of the target. The split fairway offers a choice from the tee to either play safely to the right fairway by laying-up short of the stream or try the more heroic route to the left. This more difficult option to the left fairway requires a carry over the stream of 190 yards. If successful, the result is a short pitch to the green where the stream is now on the right instead of directly in front of the green.
