If you could
choose any four-season resort in Colorado, where would you rather get together with your
family? Would you pick a monster resort that is all spread out, all built up and no longer
compatible with what you want out of life? Or would you go where the resort
matches your personality, the community really feels like one and where you don't feel
fenced in by overbuilding? |
| Well,
if you love the idea of living on roughly 5,500 acres of majestic Colorado hills,
mountains and ranchland, then SolVista Golf & Ski Ranch might be a fit for you. As the owners of TransBrasil Airlines Marise Cipriani and her family
can vacation anywhere. Why did the family choose to buy and develop SolVista Golf &
Ski Ranch? |
| Marise and
her family started coming from Brazil to vacation in Colorado in 1990. To ski, hike and
enjoy the outdoors. They bought a home at one of the major ski resorts and started to
spend more time in Colorado. But Marise felt something was missing in the resorts she
visited. The human scale and connection with nature was being lost. The resorts were
becoming cities in the mountains. The same kind of city that most people were trying to
get a break from. |

|
| So
when Marise saw Silver Creek (now SolVista) in 1995 she fell in love with it. Others saw
only the old Silver Creek Resort, a small family oriented ski area that had not kept up
with the times. Marise saw potential. Recently Marise renamed the resort SolVista Golf
& Ski Ranch to reflect the new future and expansion of the resort. The property wasn't just the ski
area, it was enormous! Over 5,500 acres. It had everything. Rolling ranchland covered with
sagebrush. Grassland. Alpine meadows, forests and mountains. Valleys and draws. Bluffs and
ridges and the perfect meandering river teeming with fish. Here was an unspoiled
opportunity to create a special resort community with a heart. A chance to avoid the
mistakes made at so many other resorts. |

Its smaller
ski mountains could offer a unique alternative. More intimate, safe, family oriented
skiing with no lift lines or crowds
almost like a private ski area. The rest of the
land was ideal for a multitude of amenities and activities on a year-round basis to create
a true four season resort. Large amounts of land could be devoted to meadows, forests and open spaces for
residents and guests to enjoy. Marise envisioned the relaxed feel of the real Colorado
West. An uncrowded landscape and a place for families and friends to celebrate life and
the outdoors while rediscovering nature and each other. |
| After
a career as an international businesswoman Marise now lives in Colorado full time. She is
raising two teenagers with her husband Celso who commutes to Brazil to run TransBrasil
Airlines. She also teaches Pilates at a local community center. But Marise's main focus is
SolVista Golf & Ski Ranch. What is Happening
at SolVista Golf & Ski Ranch?
There have already been a
lot of changes at SolVista Golf & Ski Ranch. The ski area has been upgraded and a new
high-speed quad chairlift was installed last season. A new 18-hole championship golf
course is under construction. The front nine holes will open in summer 2001 and the back
nine is scheduled to open in 2002. |
| Last ski
season, Kicking Horse Lodges, the first new resort condominium project at the resort in 15
years was offered for sale. The initial intention was to offer the first phase of 60
homes, but demand was so strong that the second phase was opened up and on the first
weekend; over 90 of the homes were sold. The result of the success of
Kicking Horse Lodges and the improvements that Marise is making is that demand for
property in and around the resort is ramping up. More homes are being built, lots are
selling and prices are on the rise. |

|
| But it's
just the beginning. Twin Saddles Lodge will be the start of a charming Western style
Village that is planned for the base of the ski area. And there are plans for more
expansion of the ski area, expanded kids activity center, riding center, fishing lodge, a
health spa and wellness center and lots more. How about cabins in the woods that you can
hike or cross country ski to. An activity center with a pool and art classes, rodeo
lessons
you won't be bored here unless you want to be. |
